Maryland Wedding Photographer | Liriodendron Mansion | Marissa and Jeff

Aug 11, 2016

Jeff and Marissa’s wedding day was filled with so much love and joy. Their wedding and reception were held at the historic Liriodendron Mansion in Bel Air, MD. Fun fact- the Liriodendron had about a 5 second cameo in House of Cards! Don’t ask me which season; I did a lot of binge watching at it all ran together… Back to the point, Anne! The Liriodendron is one of my favorite venues. I have this thing for old houses and mansions at the Lirio is stunning! There’s a claw foot tub in the bridal suite and marble walls. There’s a cascading staircase leading you downstairs, crawling vines covering the front of the house, old fireplaces, beautiful chandeliers, covered porches.. all the heart eyes for this girl!

And the covered porches came in handy! Jeff and Marissa were supposed to have their ceremony out on the lawn but it started raining in April, I think, and it didn’t stop for three weeks! I’d make a Forrest Gump reference right now, but I’ll skip it, you get the idea! Their ceremony was moved to one of the porches and it was perfect! Their guest count filled up the porch without overflowing so they were still able to get married outside… and they were dry!

There are so many details about their wedding day that made so wonderful. Marissa had both her mother and older sister in the bridal party and her mom was the maid of honor! She wore a veil in her hair that evening that she hand sewed antique lace on from her grandmother. Jeff and Marissa exchanged gifts; a watch for him, a charm bracelet for her. Right after Jeff’s groom portraits, he took a minute to read the vows he wrote for his soon-to-be wife. My favorite part was that he promised to always defend her honor! Probably the most noble vow ever. The wedding favors were handmade by her father. He hand blows glass! Each guest took home a glass vase with a single hand blown flower. They were stunning! And I was so fortunate that Marissa made sure one was saved just for me! Their reception was held inside and they were given such lovely toasts. Both Marissa’s mother and father each got up and said touching words about their daughter and the man she had just married. Guests danced the night away while the DJ played a great mix of songs and put on a fun light show!

Jeff and Marissa, I wish you all the best. I know you’ll have a lifetime of love, laughter, and joy.

xo.
