A lot of times I see families put off family sessions and push them further and further down the calendar until it turns into them getting portraits done almost only for holidays and birthdays. But here’s my question. Why not combine family portraits with birthday, holiday or event sessions?

Everyone does this at weddings, right? Yes, it’s so the couple has photos of everyone who came, but also, everyone got together for the wedding so taking extended family photos makes sense. If everyone is together, why not? This is what the Felpel family did.

Olivia’s first birthday shoot was wrapped right in with family photos. Instead of taking the time TWICE (or putting one off altogether) everyone got in for a few family photos after Olivia’s birthday set to make one longer session. Family photos and birthdays are very important moments to capture and this is a great way to save some scheduling time! Check out a few of my favorites from their session!
