The new year always brings along a lot of reflection. In this quieter time of the year, I get a few extra moments to reflect on and appreciate all sorts of things! Lately, I’ve been thinking about the relationships in my life. I can’t stress enough how important it is to surround yourself with the right people!

It seems like just yesterday that I photographed a wedding that is so near and dear to my heart. Michael and Auburn, two of my closest friends ( and one of them just happens to be my brother!) were married at The Cloisters Castle on a bright and crisp November day. After photographing a combined lifestyle and engagement session in their brand new first home just a few months before, it was an absolute joy to see the two of them so happy and in love on their big day.

Take me back to Assateague Island! This seaside engagement session makes my heart sing! Not only do these engagement photos bring a little bit of warmth to this cold January weather, they remind me of how much fun Anna and her fiance Rob were to work with. Anna’s smile is infectious and it’s impossible not to smile and laugh right along with her! She and Rob were having so much fun roaming around Assateague Island that I almost felt like I was the third-wheel on a really fun date.

You know how, after the start of every new year, your goals of getting to the gym more often are met with going to the gym and seeing a packed parking lot full of cars? That’s the moment when you realize that everyone’s wanting to get the most out of this new year. Everyone’s jumping right into their 2019 goals right out of the gate, and I’m no exception! These goals have been weighing pretty heavily on my mind lately – where do I want to be this time next year? How do I want to grow as a person, and as a photographer? I know I’m not alone here, so I’m gonna share with you my thought process for making 2019 the best year yet!

Happy New Year!! Today’s the last day to soak in all of the holiday-goodness from December and get to planning on all of your new year’s resolutions! Just between you and me, I chose traveling as one of my resolutions. 2019 is going to be an exciting year!

I met the Workman family a few years ago and now I do family portraits for them almost every year! It’s so fun to see their family grow over time- isn’t their new daughter so cute?
