Planning your engagement session with your photographer marks one of the biggest milestones of your wedding planning. Your engagement photos perfectly portray the love between you and your fiance, and show off how unique and amazing you both are together! Location can make or break your engagement session – a great location has multiple settings for shooting, great natural light and (hopefully) reflects a little bit about yours and your fiance’s personalities!

Maryland is home to some amazing places you can use plan the perfect engagement session, and I thought I’d share some of my personal favorites!

Cloister’s Castle

Like something out of a fairy tale, Cloister’s Castle sits on a hill overlooking Lutherville. Surrounded by acres and acres of woods, the nearly 100-year-old Gothic mansion houses medieval artwork and has design features like stained glass and wrought iron. Plus, the dramatic spiral staircase gives the perfect finishing touch to a romantic engagement session!

NCR Trail

As an avid hiker and adventurer, I personally love the NCR trail as an outdoor destination in Maryland! For outdoor lovers, exploring the NCR trail is the perfect engagement session experience. Two of my favorite clients, Stephanie and Jon, decided to shoot their engagement photos on the NCR trail to commemorate their first date riding bikes on the trail!

Annapolis

Downtown Annapolis couldn’t get more picturesque, with its red brick buildings and historic buildings on every corner. From the Naval Academy to the picturesque docks overlooking the Chesapeake Bay, Annapolis exudes old-world charm around every corner.

Apollos and Nicole took their engagement photos near the Annapolis Courthouse because it was near where they first met. I love the symbolism of taking engagement photos in locations that are steeped in history to celebrate the history of your relationship!

Historic Fells Point Neighborhood in Baltimore

One of the reasons I love Baltimore is because of its mixture of historic charm and modern, urban feel. Every neighborhood has its own unique vibe and historic Fells Point is no exception! Nestled on the water with cobblestone streets and weathered brick buildings, Fells Point has such picturesque locations for a true Baltimore engagement session experience.

Assateague Island

If you want your engagement session to have a destination-feel, Assateague Island is the perfect location! Just outside of Ocean City, Assateague is filled with quiet and low-key beaches that work perfectly for beach engagement photos. If you’re feeling adventurous, Assateague Island is a beautiful beachside engagement session location!
