Five reasons to book an engagement session with your wedding photographer

Apr 27, 2018

Why are Engagement Sessions Important?

Weddings are about more than coordinating every last detail, assembling the perfect vendor team to execute your big day, and finding just the right color scheme to pull every piece together. More than anything, your wedding should be the best representation of who you and your fiance are and should celebrate your relationship and the life you want to live together. You should take advantage of any opportunity you have to capture your relationship throughout the planning process. What better way to do that than scheduling an engagement session?!

1. Enjoy and commemorate the days before the big day

Have you ever heard the saying, “life is about the journey, not the destination?” I can’t tell my clients enough to enjoy their engagement while it lasts! This is a special and happy time for you and once wedding planning goes into full swing, you’ll have fewer and fewer opportunities to stop and enjoy the moment.

2. Capture what you and your fiance are all about

I absolutely LOVE shooting engagement photos for many reasons, but the most important reason is that I get to see the amazing bond my clients’ share with their partners. Even more than that, I get to see just how unique each of the couples I work with are from each other. From their personal styles to where they choose to shoot their session, each engagement session I shoot perfectly showcases the personality and real-life bond of my clients. It brings me back to why I do what I do!

3. Get comfortable in front of the lens

Everyone has a few spotlight nerves. If you’re not used to being in front of a camera or aren’t comfortable being the center of attention, it could take a bit to loosen up and feel normal while shooting photos with your photographer. While I do my best to keep everything low-key and comfortable, sometimes the only thing that helps with camera jitters is practice. During your engagement shoot, we can work through the nerves before the wedding day so you’re feeling like a pro once the big day comes!

4. Use the photos for stationery

Having engagement session photos can make designing your Save the Dates or your guestbook easier with a more personal touch! You could also integrate them into your favors or decor if you want to get creative.

5. Have the chance to work with your photographer before the wedding day

Engagement sessions with me are a blast! I am all about giving my clients amazing images while making sure they have a great time exploring our shooting location and figuring out which poses and angles they like best. And, bonus: you and I can get to know each other better before the big day arrives! Think of it as a wedding day test run; by the time your wedding day arrives, we’ll have worked together and I’ll have a better idea of how the process works for you!

Well, hopefully, I’ve convinced you to go for it and book an engagement session! If you want to chat more about what to expect during an engagement session, leave me a message
