Behind the Lens | To my Husband on his Birthday | Baltimore Photographer

Feb 15, 2017

Chris,

Today you turn 38. How did that happen? It’s hard to believe that we’ve know each other for so many years. I was just 16 when I met you and never could have dreamed that I would be lucky enough to marry you. Also, I never quite thought you’d be the kind of guy to settle down, with your whole leather jacket wearing, Jeep driving, bartending, and tattoo-getting ways 😉 I guess you proved me wrong! Back in those days, I would have to call you some mornings to make sure you were awake and coming to work because you were late for your shift! Meanwhile, I had been up since 5 am, had gone to school, and made it to work by 10am! These days you’re the one getting up at 5am and I’m the one that can barely get out of bed. You still have your wild side, it just comes out a little less often. It definitely came out the night of your bachelor party… I should have known better that getting all of you trouble-makers together would end like it did! One brother was asleep on the floor in our unfinished basement, another brother was forbidden from sharing a bed with his wife… but yet, somehow, you were all up by 6:30 the next morning! We just had to make a little more coffee… Anyway, I guess that’s another story for another day.

We’ve grown so much over the years. So much is different, yet so much is the same. We’ve taken on incredible responsibilities- getting married, raising a family, running a business, planning for the future. But we’ve remained the essence of who we were all of those years ago. You still act at least ten years younger than you actually are. You still wear Doc Martens. You still drive Jeep Wranglers. You still have a head full of great hair (thank goodness!). You still give me the same butterflies as you did all of those years ago. And up until about two weeks ago, you even wore the same ring on your index finger.

So, on your birthday this year, my wish for you is this- keep being you. Don’t ever change. You’re the man I fell for so many years ago and you just keep getting better. I still can’t believe that I got to marry “Chris the Bartender” and that we get to take on life together. Happy Birthday, my love! <3

Thank you to Amy & Jordan for our gorgeous wedding photos! We love you guys!
