Spring break is wrapping up in this house and Brody heads back to school tomorrow. While I’ll miss not having to set an alarm clock, I am looking forward to getting back into my normal routine. Before I know it summer vacation will be here and my schedule will be all over the place again! It never ends, does it? Yay, adulthood! Ha!

Last Monday we hit up the DC Zoo! It seemed like a great idea; no admission fee, parking lots, and gorgeous weather. Yes, it didn’t cost anything to get it but the parking lots closed as we were waiting to turn to go in. We then drove around for 40 minutes trying to find anywhere that we could park! When we finally found a garage there was a hefty price tag of nearly $40! It sort of cancelled out the excitement of free admission. The zoo was nice; it was clean, staffers were friendly, and we saw a panda and a pack of lions. Honestly, I think I’ll stick with the Baltimore Zoo in the future… we’ve got giraffes, rhinos, penguins, and polar bears- all things that DC lacks! 

Months and months ago I found a website that listed awesome playgrounds and parks in Maryland. A few were within driving distance for us so I wrote them down and saved them for this week! Brody has a friend with us Thursday and Chris took off of work, so we hit the road! The first stop was Watkins Regional Park. It was so fun! It’s done up in a Wizard of Oz theme, complete with the yellow brick road. They also have a carousel, train, mini golf, and a farm! We got to se way more than we planned on and it was great! We had a picnic lunch and then moved on to the next! Clarks Elioak Farm was about 40 minutes away and boasted the excitement of The Enchanted Forrest. Evidently The Enchanted Forrest was around when Chris was younger but was shut down and all of the buildings and playground sets were put into storage for years and years. The Clarks convinced the owners that they wanted to bring it back to live and let it be enjoyed again. It did not disappoint! Attractions were based on nursery rhymes and it was wide open with lots of room to run around. Bonus: BABY GOATS. <3 

We’ve also spent a lot of time gardening. The weather last week was so wonderful! We  picked out lots of seeds to plant and I’m hoping that all of the birds, squirrels, and deer don’t destroy our hard work. We harvested all of our winter veggies from the garden yesterday and I think we’ll be eating collard greens for the foreseeable future! My tulips have started to bloom and each time I pull into the driveway and see them I get so happy! Note to self: plant more tulips.
