Weddings are about more than coordinating every last detail, assembling the perfect vendor team to execute your big day, and finding just the right color scheme to pull every piece together. More than anything, your wedding should be the best representation of who you and your fiance are and should celebrate your relationship and the life you want to live together. What better way to celebrate than scheduling an engagement session?!
Have you ever had an idea pop into your head that just feels SO right? You can't stop thinking about it and just know that you have to put it into action? For a long time this was never on my radar. I never pictured myself doing this. But, that feeling didn't last forever and on that note...
I can't tell you how much I love living in Baltimore. Between the culture, restaurant scene, and tons of destination spots only a short drive away, you can always find fun and new things to get into with your tribe.
How are my fellow work-at-home boss lady mamas doing?! Are you feeling energized, organized, and completely on top of every little detail required to make a family, home, and business run smoothly? No? Good. Neither am I! Let's just face the reality of the nearly impossible. It's hard work. All of it!
Waking up on April the 9th and the meteorologist is still talking about freezing temperatures. I just can't take it anymore! It looks like we'll hit 70 degrees by Thursday, though! Here's what's been going on in my part of the world!
This new season as a mother of two certainly takes some getting used to! Baby feedings, diapers, and snuggles mixed with homework, chores, and legos on the floor is not for the faint at heart. Dylan is 3 months old now and I'm starting to get into a groove that works for our family. Now to get into a groove that works for work! So here's a recap of life in my house lately!
I'm extremely excited to share one of my favorite weddings, Will and Theresa's big day at Martin's West! Will and Theresa are absolutely perfect for each other. Both die-hard Harry Potter fans, Will and Theresa got engaged at Hogwarts! These two self-proclaimed nerds are clearly in love and are each other's perfect match!
I spent a lovely fall day in the Federal Hill neighborhood of Baltimore capturing the magic of Daniel and Lindsey's classic wedding at the Star Spangle Flag House Museum, right on the harbor. The sun was shining and the trees were turning beautiful colors for Lindsey and Dan's big day!
All of this frigid January weather with its snowstorms and bitter cold spurts makes me wish we were still in the season of corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and drinking warm apple cider in cozy sweaters. Kristan and Tyler's engagement session at the Baltimore County Agricultural Center seemed like the perfect shoot to feature on the blog for those of you who want to daydream about fall, and possibly pick up some of your own ideas about what you might want for your engagement photos!
Emily and Matt's wedding at the Baltimore Museum of Art was sophisticated and classic, from Emily's stunning Sareh Nouri gown to the ornate stone steps of their venue. Their wedding was the perfect black tie affair, complete with a band and even a live painter painting the reception throughout the night! Having a live painter paint during the reception was such a unique way of capturing the night and paired perfectly with the art museum venue.
Baltimore sweethearts Lindsay and Lance, along with their pup Rico, joined me in Fells Point for a waterfront engagement session! With the sun and the water popping against the historic, worn brick buildings and streets, we had the best time exploring the historic Baltimore neighborhood.
With Christmas being right around the corner and winter officially in full swing, I’ve been reminiscing about summer and all of the great projects I worked on with clients on those sunny, warm days! One of my absolute favorites is my day in Annapolis with Apollos and Nicole.
I can't get enough of the contrast between purple wedding accents and the lush greenery of a rustic outdoor venue. Leslie and Dan's wedding at Pond View Farm in White Hall, Maryland, was full of vibrant purples and green backdrops. It was the perfect summer day with just the right temperature, especially for August. I loved shooting every minute of it!
Stephanie and Jon are such an adventure-loving couple. They love being outdoors so much that for one of their first dates, they rode bikes on the NCR trail. Because of their history with the NCR trail, Stephanie and Jon decided to shoot their engagement photos there! We had a blast adventuring on the trail and capturing some amazing shots of Stephanie and Jon with their adorable Boston Terrier Ginny during the sunny fall afternoon.
With Veteran's Day having just passed, it seemed like a great time to share Shawn and Marisa's wedding at the Star Spangled Flag House Museum in Baltimore! The red, white, and blue backdrop of the museum seemed like such a fitting place for these two lovebirds to tie the knot.
Travis is such a big part of my life (pun intended) that I thought I really ought to share a little more about him! Travis came to us almost four years ago in December. I have ALWAYS been a dog person and have had dogs literally my entire life. I've had english bulldogs, labs, and mutts, but Travis is my first mastiff! And let me tell you, I am completely infatuated with him!
Just in time for Halloween, it's finally starting to feel like fall in Maryland! I've been incredibly busy with doubleheader wedding weekends, attending the AKP retreat in Baltimore, and preparing for the newest member of our little family, but I'm so excited for spending my in-between moments indulging in all things fall - I'm talking pumpkin spice, hot apple ciders, snuggling by the fireplace...enjoying the sweater weather season while I can.
Casey and Nate tied the knot at one of my new favorite venues in Lancaster, the Cork Factory Hotel! Lancaster is quickly becoming a popular area for brides looking for rustic wedding venues. This place had everything - exposed brick, aged wood, and a completely open space with vaulted ceilings for their beautiful ceremony and reception. The little details of the wedding were perfect for the space, from the hanging flowers and chandeliers to the ornate, oversized Edison light bulbs incorporated into the decor. Everywhere you looked, Casey and Nate's wedding was gorgeous!
Mike and Ashley were the lucky winners of the Be More Inspired Wedding Studio Ultimate Wedding Giveaway last January and were married at the SwingTime Ballroom in Hydes, Maryland! From the bride’s gorgeous lace dress with custom sleeves to the Walking Dead cake, Mike and Ashley’s wedding was a blast!
I admire the ambition you both have towards following your dreams. An idea will pop into your heads and if it feels right, you make the next move. Whatever obstacles are in your way, you always overcome them with grace. I think everyone can learn from your positivity and determination. That houseboat that didn't float, that farm that you waited and waited for, and those silos that didn't look like much from the outside, but you had vision and now it's more than you ever could have imagined. You've created a brand, a lifestyle, and you've set an example that if you put your mind to it and stay true to yourselves, you can accomplish anything you dream up.
The sprawling hills of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania were the perfect backdrop for Katelynne and Jacob's wedding day! Between taking the fun and goofy shots of the bridal party to capturing the beautiful details of Katelynne's dress and flowers, it was a super fun day and I couldn't be happier for Katelynne and Jacob!
I don't think it could get any cuter than this shoot for sisters Brooke and Morgan and their dogs Scarlet, Gus and Milo! I've known Brooke and Morgan for years while their dad and I were volunteer firefighters together. Brooke and I also both wore the Ms. Fire Prevention crown! I even owe the adoption of our dog, Travis, to Brooke. Brooke is a Virginia Tech grad who works in the agricultural field and Morgan is a women's soccer coach at Loyola. I was over the moon when they reached out to take some photos with their adorable pups!
Fells Point in Baltimore is such a dynamic and exciting place to shoot engagement sessions. There are cobblestone and worn brick, a picturesque waterfront, and iconic landmarks like the Knoll Lighthouse. Jess, Mike and I took advantage of a gorgeous sunny spring day and explored Fells Point to find the perfect shots for their engagement session! As we were shooting, passers-by cheered them on and talked about how adorable they and their happy and energetic golden retriever pup Bailey were. The three of them looked like a perfect little family!
To celebrate Julie's daughter Isabella's fifth birthday, Julie decided to have mother daughter portraits made for the two of them! We had a bit of a challenge searching for locations in Hunt Valley to shoot the perfect portraits.
Valerie, Mike and I took a trip to Cloister's Castle for their fall engagement session! I had such a fun time shooting their engagement photos in such a unique setting and loved that they wanted something different for their location. We had a blast and Mike and Val were such great sports. They were up for anything! I can’t wait for their fall wedding coming up this October.
